Dorothy Lane is a 1980's era suburban home on a quiet street with an adjacent woodland preserve. The house is honest and straightforward, but lacks a clear identity or connection to the surrounding woods.
We propose re-configuring the living spaces to create a stronger connection both internally between the rooms and externally between the house and forest. The internal space extends outward with the addition of several floor to ceiling windows/doors and a wrap-around deck. Additionally, the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms are tweaked to create better access on that floor while increasing the sense of privacy between the more public and private parts of the house.
